About Peter Ciesla

Peter Ciesla is a fiber artist/designer who emigrated to the United States from Wroclaw, Poland in 1991. He came with a background in art and costume design. In 1993, he started his own business, Creative Apparel Design, a couture custom clothing studio on the North Shore of Chicago. For 10 years Peter worked with a small group of customers, while at the same time traveling the country with his one-of-a-kind coat designs, showing them in galleries, museums, trade and fashion shows. In 1997, he won the nationally recognized Niche Award for Surface Design, for his “Butterfly” coat. His work has been included in Fiber Arts Design Books #6, #7. He has won numerous awards over the years for his coat designs.

In 1998, he began creating some jewelry (necklaces) for one of his customers. He also created his first two sculptural neckpieces that year. The success of the jewelry was so dramatic it eventually prompted a change of focus. In 2002, he moved from the Chicago area to Wisconsin, and launched Bazyli Studio, to concentrate on his unique style of beaded necklaces, sculptural neckwear and jewelry accessories. Peter was featured in Bead and Button Magazine, Jan/Feb 2003, and won Best of Show in the Milwaukee Bead Dreams Competition 2004, for his piece “Laguna Beach”.  His wife Skye, a sculptor, joined him in the effort in 2002. She has developed her unique bead embroidery style, doing cuffs, brooches and neckpieces in collaboration with Peter for Bazyli Studio. Their collaborative work was featured in the Ornament Magazine, volume 34 no.5 in September 2011.

This distinctive jewelry shows from coast to coast. Bazyli Studio
